The benefits that broth affords its consumers are numerous – one of the most important is its immune enhancement ability. Just like your mother used to say “eat your chicken soup” when you had a cold as a kid, bone broth, especially when made with bones with marrow, contains disease-fighting constituents that are vastly important to improve immune health.
One of the worst consequences of adrenal fatigue is the inability to mount a healthy response to stressful situations. Sufferers become paralyzed during stressful events, unable to cope with any more stressing inputs. Symptoms of adrenal fatigue can include low energy, need for naps, depression, pain or inflammation, insomnia or other sleep disturbances, poor memory or concentration (like ADHD), weight gain (usually around the mid-section), hair loss, palpitations and even menstrual cycle irregularities.
One of the most disturbing trends that I have seen in clinical practice is the rapid rise in hypothyroidism in this country over the last decade or so. It is not solely due to consuming white enriched bread laden with bromated flours, but I suspect that this is certainly part of the picture. The thyroid-toxic properties of bromide were first discovered more than a decade ago.
